Charlton fans try to storm the directors’ box

Brian has had an article about Charlton Athletic FC published in today’s Arthur Pewty’s Maggot Sandwich, an influential blog written by fellow Erith resident and former Radio Caroline DJ, Hugh Neal. Hugh had seen Brian’s recent videos of the protests at The Valley and asked Brian to pen some words about the current situation at Charlton and what was needed to remedy it – the club having been relegated to Division One.

Brian said, “I was at the match on behalf of Kent FA as a guest at Charlton’s Red, White and Black day. I hadn’t even heard of Charlton’s owner, Roland Duchatelet, let alone understood the reasons why fans were protesting against his ownership of the club. I had to quickly research what has gone on, helped by some friends who are Charlton fans and who know the story.

“At the same time, I was very moved by the scenes I witnessed on the day. As a follower of Charlton (first result I look for on match day), I was delighted to be asked to write the piece by Hugh; to be given an opportunity to assist the Addicks fans in their struggle to get their club back. I hope I’ve done justice to their cause.”
