My new role as London Unity League Chairman

On Thursday, the London Unity League (LUL) – a LGBT-friendly league based in London – elected me League Chairman. I was looking for a new role in LGBT-friendly football and was keen to provide my support to the league. I took Bexley Invicta FC into the LUL in 2012 and it has proved to be a great league for football and for socialising. I want to see the league continue to thrive, and to play my part in ensuring that it meets the expectations of clubs and players.

Following my election, I messaged the LUL clubs to say: “Thank you so much for electing me as chairman of the LUL. I’m delighted to have this opportunity to service the league and constituent clubs.”

I sent a further message this morning: “As your new league chairman, I make the clubs two initial pledges. First, I will be accessible. Contact me on my mobile number or [personal email address] if there is anything you wish to discuss. Second, I intend to be visible, including coming along to fixtures as the season progresses to check in with clubs and players about how you think the league is going, and any concerns or ideas you may have.”

I’ll let you know how it all goes…
